New Years Eve - We're all very amped to be playing a stylish wee show on New Years Eve at the wonderful new Juice Bar and Restaurant in Parnell Auckland, yep the same folks that bring you Juice Television. Ted Brown has joined the US Army and will soon be in Afghanistan, so Ben King will be taking over the guitar duties for the evening.. 1000 turning out for the Auckland show alone!
Thanks also to the folks at those churches who allowed
a bunch of pagans, agnostics and neer do wells into their
places of worship!

Greatest Hits!!!!!!!! - Greg's Greatest Hits album
is due for release October 4th. The album has
17 Classic Greg tunes and a bonus disk.
There are several new versions of old classics
including a "wedding" version of "swagger" and
there are a couple of new tunes as well.

Greg & Boh Church Tour to Co-incide with Greatest Hits Release!!! - ...............The news is out, Greg and old friend Boh Runga
are to tour together onstage for the first time!
The unique pairing of Greg Johnson and Boh Runga
provides the headline attraction for the first annual
Classic Hits Acoustic Church Tour, taking in nine of
New Zealand’s most iconic churches from Auckland
to Invercargill this October.
Say's Greg.. " I'm so amped to be doing this really
unique tour with my old pal Boh from back in the day!
The old churches will sound great and the decor is top
notch. I love touring round NZ and I'm really pleased
to be heading to Invercargill and Dunedin because it's
been too long between visits and they have all the nice
seafood and dark beers in the deep south. Lucky bleeders! "
Former Zed front man Nathan King and exceptional
newcomer Lydia Cole complete the bill. Greg and Boh
are currently working up a set that will see them perform
songs together from their own and each other’s repertoire.
Greg has also guested with Boh recently at Largo in
Los Angeles as a wee low key rehearsal for the upcoming circus.
Greg will release his Greatest Hits album at tour start
in early October featuring all of his many radio hits and
some new and rare material.

Solo shows finally include Christchurch! - Greg will play three solo shows on his brief return to New Zealand June/July. Two nights at Ponsonby's Whiskey Bar June 30/July 1st will be followed by a night at the Dux Delux July 2nd in Christchurch.. This is a rare chance to get inside Greg's songbook and see what he's been writing recently and also to hear a few tunes that seldom get heard with the full band. Bluespeak To Play Cause Celebre Reunion - Greg's old day job playing trumpet and singing old jazz and blues numbers with Bluespeak is getting a rare re-airing as part of the Cause Celebre/Box Club reunion. The event is called "Take Me Back" and takes place Saturday June 27 at Studio 420 on Auckland's Krd. Old pals of Greg's including Nathan haines and Peter Urlich will perform also along with a host of old school DJ's.. no doubt a few hairlines will have decreased in inverse proportion to waist measurements!

Thanks San Juan Capsistrano! - Greg and band played the famous Library Series at San Juan Capistrano to more than 300 music lovers June 6 with many fans riding the Amtrak train down from LA. The venue courtyard was spectacular and everyone had a smashing time. Thanks Bob! Some Texas Two Step dancing and carousing took place at the Swallow's Inn apres show, but reports about Greg getting into a violent political argument at Denny's circa 4am are somewhat exaggerated. Can't wait til next years event!!!

Sad News - We were deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of Wrestler, Agent, and Gentleman Robert Bruce. Greg was truly honoured that Robert had requested his song "If I Swagger" to be played at his funeral and passes on sincere condolences to his Family and Friends.

Auckland Festival - Greg is thrilled to be performing two nights in the Famous Spiegeltent for the Auckland Festival this March. Say's Mr Johnson.. "I love playing the Spiegeltent because it has such a great atmosphere, it really suits my shows and it seems to exist in a time and place of it's own..step outside to see what city you're in.."

Two Songs In Dustin Hoffman Movie - Two tunes from the Seven Day Cure album will be heard in the new Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson Feature "Last Chance Harvey" due for release Dec 08 in the US and early 09 everywhere else. Both "Looking Out On Monday" and "I Got Opinions" will be heard in the Flik which was filmed on location in London.

The shows were to promote the new album Seven Day Cure and to revive the table-seated atmosphere of the original Cocktail Club. Say's Greg
"Cheers to everyone that came along and made it so much fun! Big thanks to my band and to all the special guests we had. Musically we played some of our best shows ever I thought, the only drama being when Ted caught fire shortly after coming off stage on the last night. Luckily he was un-hurt and only his $1600 jacket was destroyed. Cheers to the folks that put him out too."

Top 20! - "Seven Day Cure" hit #20 on the NZ album Chart this week up from 23 first week in. That means every album Greg's ever bloody made has been in the top 20. even the ones you ain't heard. A drink for the songwriter I think. Seven Day also peaked at #6 on Itunes NZ and 125 on iTunes Morocco.. if you don't have the record yet..well you know what to do rocker. Buy it and make us ALL richer!

Show at 38,000 Feet! - Greg and band mate Wayne Bell performed an acoustic set at each end of an Air New Zealand 747 Sept 3rd somewhere to the east of Hawaii. Thanks to Air New Zealand the lads launched the new album to a surprised but enthusiastic audience shortly after reaching altitude out of Los Angeles on a flight to New Zealand. Specially invited guests included Samantha Hayes from TV3's Nightline plus film crew, Bonnie Sumner from the Sunday Star Times and EMI Records Promotions manager Steve Cadman.
Say's Greg "It was probably the strangest show I've ever done, and the engines are louder than you think once you start singing, but it was brilliant fun and the passengers seemed to really enjoy it. I'm really proud that New Zealand has such a cool airline in Air NZ, I can't imagine any other carrier doing that."
Greg's quick trip home included an industry and press launch ahead of the full tour October.

7 Day Cure is coming! Hold on!!! - It's been a while in the making but "Seven Day Cure" is in the last few weeks of production. No date for NZ release as yet, but should be soon. Meantime the USA and elsewhere can expect digital availability from September 1st..
Say's Greg " This album has taken twice as long as any previous to make simply because of the additional attention to detail and tweaking that's been going on..it is sounding stunning, the production is not only world-class but probably better than most Alien Civilizations could manage as well, certainly better than anything done by the Martian Landers "
